Kenosis Community - Vision and Objectives

Vision

The name KENOSIS is the underlying vision that determines the life of the community.

KENOSIS is a Greek word that means 'emptying'(RSV) or 'making oneself nothing' (NIV).

In Philippians 2:5-7 the word is used to summarize what the attitude of Jesus was towards life and others people and how this should be a model for Christian Communities.

Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus - who, being in the very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.

Objectives

Kenosis has 3 general objectives, while the different projects have their specific ones.

· To live as a Christian Community and to accept and respect oneanother dispite different cultures and backgrounds.

· To serve God by serving one another, our different churches as well as the Pietermaritzburg / Bishopstowe community in which we live.

· To serve the sick and needy and those infected and affected by HIV / AIDS with a special focus on vulnerable children.
